Yes, there aren’t that many months left now, but this also means the wait isn’t too long now. We are aiming for a full release in 2021. Patch 1.0? When is the game’s full release date? A magical forest… And a snowy mountain… Both areas will release simultaneously in Patch 1.0. We have not one but two areas in development. I want new areas! When will they be released? Divisions will also make their return! Etherdawn, Neverwhisk, Pyrodash, which will you join? Among them… Dungeons to explore, Accessories to upgrade, and Wishboards to help the people. We have plenty of new features and content lined up for our next few patches. Future features will be huge, so it’s important that we ensure the game is as stable as possible first. The latest patch focuses on performance improvements and bug fixes. Patch 0.6.1 has no new content or features. We apologise for making this complicated and will improve this in a future patch. Where can we see our Bond Memories again?įor now, you can find your collected Bond Memories here: Open your Character Screen > Check the Bottom Right > Select Bonds > Pick a Bond > Check the Bottom Right > Select Memories. Through it, you can hide your currently-equipped helmet or replace it with a Fashion item. Yes! We are introducing a new Fashion feature in an upcoming patch. Pets will have more functions than they did in Postknight 1. Yes! Pets are in development, but they require more time. To keep the economy safe, there won’t be a direct item selling feature. As such, some of your extra items can be exchanged for rewards by villagers who need the items. We are adding a new feature where villagers would request items and pay you for them. Most dungeons make smart use of this division of ability, and often feature some nicely complicated solutions that require frequent switching and a little outside-the-box thinking. Sam has her PSI abilities that allow her to shoot out energy blasts that can freeze enemies and destroy certain obstacles, while John has a frying pan for beating the stuffing out of enemies along with his limited-use guns and bombs. The main rub of these sequences is that you’re often required to alternate (with a quick tap of a shoulder button) between playing as Sam and John, each of which have unique abilities. When you finally get to some gameplay, things unfold quite a bit like a 2D Zelda game, as you wander your way through labyrinthine environments rife with treasure, enemies, and puzzles. Luckily, this doesn’t sink Eastward, but it does take some wind out of the sails. The story is well-written and most of the characters are quite lovable, but they’re foisted upon you so much in endless unskippable dialogue sequences that it starts to erode your connection with the narrative. Then you’re finally given control back, only to walk John to the next cutscene that goes on for just as long.Įastward is thus a great example for illustrating the need for good pacing. Gameplay segments are frequently broken up by relatively lengthy cutscenes that go on for long enough that it starts to feel more like you’re watching the game rather than playing it as you frantically mash ‘A’ to cut through the jungle of text. It needs to be said, however, that the story often feels a bit too much like a slog in several places. There’s quite a diverse cast on offer over this adventure, but these two are far and away the highlight of the experience. And when the story takes some shockingly dark turns, Sam is there to keep the mood hopeful and see how many times she can fit the word “John” in a single piece of dialogue. Although John never says a word, it’s abundantly clear how deeply he cares for Sam in his protective actions and stoic loyalty. Over the 30-or-so hours that it takes to clear Eastward, one thing that keeps the story consistently engaging is the heartwarming relationship between Sam and John. It turns out that things aren’t quite as bad up there as they were led to believe, although there’s a mysterious force called miasma that’s slowly rolling over the land and destroying everything in its path. The two live happily together in a small subterranean village and enjoy a quasi father/daughter relationship, but things quickly take a turn when certain events lead to them arriving at the surface that they were told is such a dangerous and awful place. The inaugural release from Shanghai-based Pixpil smartly integrates gameplay and story ideas from beloved classics while still managing to feel like an original and well-executed adventure.Įastward follows the story of John, a gruff man of action not words, and his companion, Sam, an energetic and white-haired little girl who he found underground. Instead of offering creative new takes on favored concepts, these games are more content to prod you with a sharp elbow as they say “ ’member?” over and over. The line between an homage and a copycat can often be a blurry one, and it feels like all too often that new games borrowing ideas from old games fall on the wrong side of it. But for a hardworking miner and a mysterious young girl, the hope of a thriving outside world beckons…Įscape the tyrannical clutches of Sandfill’s subterranean society and join Eastward’s unlikely duo on an exciting adventure to the land above! Discover beautiful yet bizarre settlements and make new friends as you travel across the world by rail.Įastward will be releasing on September 16 as a timed console exclusive for the Nintendo Switch as well as PC.Captured on Nintendo Switch (Handheld/Undocked) Those who could escape the miasma flocked to underground villages to start a new life. A deadly toxic presence has spread across the land, destroying and devouring everything in its path. In the near-future, society is starting to collapse, and the human population is at an all-time low. Have a watch! When it comes to the company's stock performance, it has experienced many intense fluctuations during the past year going from around $30 to $12, back to $30, and then back to $12 again, where it is currently trading at. The company's technology is aimed at providing a clean, efficient, and reliable source of power for commercial and industrial customers. The technology is already in place to start the “RNG Revolution.Plug Power ( NASDAQ: PLUG), is a publicly-traded company that designs and manufactures hydrogen fuel cell systems for use in a variety of applications, including material handling equipment, forklifts, and airport ground support vehicles. The organic waste is a limitless, 24 hour a day product that is presently polluting our ground water. After processing the organic waste to produce RNG, the waste can be used as a soil builder rather than running off and contaminating the ground water. RNG can also be used to produced Green Hydrogen because every molecule of methane captured with RNG is one less molecule of methane released to the atmosphere. RNG is a Renewable Hydrocarbon that does not rely on the use of electricity. It is not possible for wind, solar, and hydro to replace this energy need with Renewable Electricity. 80% of energy needs are produced by fossil fuels. This biogas is processed into RNG which is chemically identical to fossil natural gas and can be used as a “drop in” fuel for fossil natural gas in heating, cooking, transportation, or any other use of natural gas. A “non-fossil” fuel, RNG is produced from captured biogas released by organic waste. You have not mentioned Renewable Natural Gas. Vote here for our GH2 poll, your opinion matters – What do you think is the BIGGEST problem stopping the world from using more green hydrogen? Should everything proceed as Plug Power predicts, its green hydrogen plants will be producing 500 tons of H2 fuel per day by the close of 2025. Moreover, Plug Power also aims to be a leading electrolyzer seller for customers seeking to produce their own zero-emission fuel. Marsh is aiming to make Plug Power, based in Latham, New York, not only a leading renewable H2 producer, but also a manufacturer of fuel cell equipment, such as for specialized shipping tankers that will transport the clean fuel to its customers worldwide. Plug Power is showing that the use of electrolyzers to produce green hydrogen is highly promising, to the point that it is already shaking up the clean energy world. That said, by changing from that “gray” H2 and choosing blue (made with natural gas but with carbon capture and storage technology in place) and green (made with water electrolysis powered by renewable energy such as solar or wind), the global energy industry can profoundly decarbonize. Moreover, the emissions from those processes are unabated, meaning that while the H2 itself can be used for zero-emission operations, the production of that fuel is still highly polluting. Green hydrogen made by electrolyzing water powered by renewable electricity is expected to take off.Ĭurrently, the vast majority of H2 is produced using processes using fossil fuels. On a worldwide scale, Plug Power expects that the renewable H2 market will grow by $10 trillion in coming years. After the end of next year, it expects to be solidly and consistently profitable. This is because the company is making its way out of being a green hydrogen customer and is becoming a producer and seller of the renewable fuel. Beyond that, it predicts that by late next year, its operating income will be into the black. Moreover, by the end of the decade, it predicts that the figure will have breached the $20 billion mark, said the Forbes report. Plug Power is heavily invested in scaling up the sale of both green hydrogen and fuel cell technology.Īs the company continues scaling up its H2 and H2 production tech, it expects to see an increase from $900 million in sales this year to $5 billion in sales in 2026. That way, it will not only supply the fuel cells its customers need for zero-emission operations but will also be able to supply the H2 fuel itself. Marsh’s goal for the company is also to become a top renewable H2 producer. Instead, the company is focused on the production of fuel cells for zero-emission forklifts and for stationary power generators. While many of the largest green hydrogen projects are focused on transportation – the aviation industry, cargo ships, rail, buses, and long-haul trucks, for instance – Plug Power is taking a different direction under Marsh, who has been its head for the last 14 years. Now they don’t.Įven when they did use it, it’s worth mentioning that was during the manufacturing, only trace amounts remained in the final product. Up until 2013, DuPont used PFOA during the production process of their Teflon. Totally different from the purpose of PTFE is a different controversial chemical, PFOA. Is Calphalon safe? How about Teflon? Even us – who choose not to use these products – fully admit that when properly used and maintained, they are safe and not toxic ( 1).įurthermore, after many decades of research and development, advances have been made with these PTFE coatings to make them more durable and for that reason, less prone to failure (and therefore safer) than the earliest iterations of them.Īnother improvement is the elimination of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). When people make accusations of PFOA and PTFE cookware causing cancer or other health risks, they’re often false or inaccurate. That said, it is important to get the facts straight. It is true that after extensive research, we at Superfoodly have chosen not to use PTFE in our own kitchens (more on that in a minute). But both are similar in that they use PTFE in their non-stick surfaces. Is Calphalon Teflon free? Yes, because they don’t use the Teflon brand for their coating. What is Calphalon?Ĭalphalon is a brand of cookware owned by the Newell Rubbermaid corporation.Ĭalphalon nonstick surfaces do use a PTFE coating. Ironically, perhaps due to the cancer causing rumors associated with Teflon’s PFOA (a different chemical), now it seems many cookware companies have chosen to not use their branded PTFE coating on their products (or not prominently disclose it if they are). Normally, companies boast when their product uses a brand name component or ingredient. All are similar products made with similar materials. Think of it as buying Kleenex brand versus another brand or generic facial tissue. Some cookware manufacturers will use Teflon brand coatings on their products and some will use a non-branded (or non-labeled) PTFE coating and simply call it a non-stick cooking surface. Though Chemours still sells their Teflon branded PTFE coatings to many different cookware manufacturers for use in their pots and pans.Īdditionally, other chemical companies now make their own PTFE coatings, but they can’t sell those using the Teflon brand name. The manufacturer of Teflon today is Chemours (which was spun-off from DuPont in 2015).īeing that it’s an 80 year-old technology, obviously it is off-patent. First though, let’s clarify the difference between these two brands.ĭuPont discovered the Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) based substance in 1938, which they branded as Teflon. If you want to cook with Teflon and equivalent, we will discuss how to do so safely below. That’s why here at Superfoodly, we personally use this set of non-stick cookware. Cleanup is a breeze, you won’t need a Scotch-Brit. You can even cook most things without oil. It achieves non-stick properties by having a nano-smooth ceramic coating. When PTFE is overheated, that’s when health side effects may possibly arise (but to reiterate, cancer is not one of them).įortunately within the past decade or so, a healthy alternative to Teflon has come to market ceramic non-stick cookware. While neither brand uses PFOA, both use PTFE. Everyone seems to focus on an organic and non GMO diet, while forgetting other sources like cookware. You need to consider not just the chemicals which might be on your food, but also the ones which may be added to it from your cookware. That said, when used incorrectly, they can produce toxins. When used correctly, but brands are safe and not toxic. Neither Teflon or Calphalon cause cancer. Do they contain PFOA, PTFE, or other potentially dangerous chemicals? A: When used incorrectly there are other concerning health risks, but cancer is not one of them. Teflon compare? Do they cause cancer? I have heard there are potential health risks associated with Teflon when its surface scratches or begins to break down. Q: Dear Superfoodly, how does the safety of non-stick Calphalon vs.
Scott and Powell married the following summer, amid great scandal (he divorced his previous wife just days earlier) and great fanfare (the glamorous couple was the subject of intense media interest). In 1944, Powell became the first African American elected to Congress from New York. Scott returned to New York City from Hollywood, where she began an affair with Harlem preacher and politician Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Scott’s fame and talent helped too: by 1945 she was attracting large audiences and earning today’s equivalent of over one million dollars per year. Scott credited her courage to the example her mother set for her as a proud and independent woman. She was one of the first performers to refuse to play before segregated audiences, including the stipulation in all her contracts. It was not just in Hollywood that Scott took a stand against racial prejudice. But standing up to the studio’s demands brought her film career to an end by 1945. She instead appeared as herself in five films, a sophisticated woman with immense musical talents, and insisted on the appropriate credit: “Hazel Scott as Herself.” She also called for pay equal to that of her white counterparts. She turned down the first four roles offered to her, all for singing maids. However, she immediately came up against the racist strictures of Hollywood. Her “Bach to Boogie” recordings on the Signature and Decca labels broke sales records.Īfter appearing in several Broadway productions, Scott moved to Los Angeles and signed with RKO, a major movie studio. She was a talented singer as well, possessing a vibrant and full-bodied voice. She was not the first put a jazz spin on the classics, but the combination of her classical training, her early exposure to top jazz musicians, and her natural talent enabled Scott to astonish listeners with her stylings. She would begin by playing familiar classical piece, then would improvise, adding jazzy runs and flourishes to their melodies. When the run was up, Scott was the "Darling of Café Society” and the club’s new headliner.Īudiences found Scott’s penchant for “jazzing the classics” irresistible. When singer Billie Holiday ended her standing engagement there three weeks early, she insisted on Scott as her replacement. Café Society was New York’s first fully integrated nightclub and the city’s hot spot for jazz. It was her 1939 performances at Café Society in Greenwich Village that pushed Scott’s career to the next level. Despite her demanding musical career, Scott graduated high school with honors. She won a local competition to host her own radio show and, in 1938, made her Broadway debut in the musical revue Sing Out the News. At 15, Scott made her individual stage debut opposite Count Basie’s big band at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. At the age of 13, she joined her mother’s jazz band, Alma Long Scott’s American Creolians. Scott’s rendition of Rachmaninoff’s “Prelude in C-Sharp Minor” convinced professor Oscar Wagner of Scott’s “genius” and he arranged a scholarship so that he could instruct her privately.īy the time she was a teenager, Scott was performing professionally throughout the city. Her mother’s musical connections made it possible for Scott to audition for the prestigious Juilliard School of Music at the unheard-of age of eight (students were supposed to be 16). Scott and her mother were extremely close, and Scott called her mother “the single biggest influence in my life.” Alma became friends with prominent African-American musicians, which gave Scott the opportunity to learn from a variety of musical greats, such as Art Tatum, Lester Young, and Fats Waller. Scott's mother played in several all-women bands to earn a living. Scott’s parents separated and she moved with her mother and grandmother to New York City in 1924. When her mother’s music students would hit a wrong note, Scott would yelp with displeasure. Scott displayed her talents for music at an early age and, by the age of three, Scott could play the piano by ear. Thomas Scott, a West African scholar from England, and Alma Long Scott, a classically trained pianist and saxophonist. Hazel Dorothy Scott was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad on June 11, 1920. and abroad with her jazzy renditions of classical works. The gifted and popular performer dazzled audiences in the U.S. Jazz pianist and singer Hazel Scott was not only the first African-American woman to host her own television show, but she also bravely stood up to the House Un-American Activities Committee and the Hollywood studio machine.
